GPT-6 with Intelligent UI: ChatGPT answers now include charts and calculators
OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 with Intelligent UI on October 7, 2026. ChatGPT answers can now include charts, calculators and widgets you can press inside the conversation.
On October 7, 2026, OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 alongside a feature called Intelligent UI. The most visible change is not the model itself but the shape of the answer: ChatGPT can now reply with charts, calculators, buttons and widgets you can press directly inside the conversation.
A day later, on October 8, it opened to Free and Go users.
1. What Intelligent UI actually is
Until now, ChatGPT answered in text. Occasionally a small table, but almost always prose.
With Intelligent UI, ChatGPT picks the answer format on its own based on your question:
- Side-by-side comparisons: when you ask about the difference between two products or two pricing plans
- Diagrams and charts: when data is easier to read visually
- Small tools inside the chat: calculators, bill splitters, games
- Plain text: when text really is the best answer
The model chooses the format automatically. You do not have to ask for a chart or a table.
2. It starts answering before it finishes thinking
Another change: GPT-6 can begin responding while it continues to think or use tools. It then adds new findings without you having to prompt again.
In practice, you can start reading before the full answer is ready. For questions that require web search or long calculations, this cuts waiting time.
3. Who gets what
Model access differs by plan:
| Plan | Model |
|---|---|
| Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise | GPT-6 Sol |
| Free, Go | GPT-6 Luna |
Intelligent UI is available from Instant through Extra High reasoning. But the Pro reasoning option still uses GPT-6 Astra and does not support Intelligent UI.
The models powering Work and Codex do not change with this release.
4. Other features shipped the same week
Several other updates worth knowing:
- Audio uploads (October 6). You can upload audio files for transcription, summaries, and questions about the content. Useful for meeting recordings, interviews or lectures. Paid plans only.
- ChatGPT Slides (October 16). Build a presentation inside ChatGPT, share it with a team for real-time editing, and export to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides.
- GPT-6 Pro with parallel agents (October 16). Multiple agents can work on different parts of one task at the same time. You can follow each one's progress in the chat.
- GPT-Live-1.1 (October 15). More natural voice, with new voices in French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Mexican Spanish.
5. Limits you should know
Three things Intelligent UI does not solve:
- It is not a correctness guarantee. Generated charts and calculators still depend on what the model understands. Check important numbers yourself.
- It does not change the model. Reasoning quality still depends on the model you are on. Free and Go get Luna, not Sol.
- Pro reasoning has no Intelligent UI. If you need the deepest reasoning, you get GPT-6 Astra without the interactive interface.
What it means for you
The change is technically small but practically large.
If you use ChatGPT daily:
- Try a comparison question. Ask about the difference between two options and see whether it returns a table. Fastest way to understand Intelligent UI.
- Use it for quick math. A calculator inside the chat removes the need to open another app. But double-check numbers that matter.
- Upload your meeting recordings. If you are on a paid plan, this is the feature that saves the most time outright. One recording in, structured notes out.
- Do not assume the chart is right. The same model that produced the chart also chose the data. For important decisions, verify against the original source.
For small business owners: the audio feature and Slides may be worth more than Intelligent UI itself. Both remove manual work that usually takes hours.
