Apple opens Siri AI to all developers through App Intents

Apple shipped a Developer Preview on November 3 so any app can connect its content and actions to Siri AI through the iOS 27.3 betas.

Apple opened Siri AI to every developer on November 3, 2026. A new Developer Preview lets any app bring its content and actions straight into Siri AI. It starts with the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 betas.

1. What Apple announced

Until now, only selected developers could integrate with Siri AI. Anyone can now use the App Intents framework so their app is recognized by the assistant.

People just ask in their own words. Siri AI carries out custom actions a developer has built, such as checking a delivery, booking a reservation or placing an order.

2. Skills for complex requests

Apple also introduced skills. For complex requests, skills teach Siri AI how to combine several actions into a single experience, for example a shopping workflow from start to finish.

On top of that, Siri AI can now surface any entity in the Spotlight semantic index, not just entities that fit an existing schema. That means content from small apps can show up when people search.

3. Apple's own apps as examples

Apple started rolling these capabilities across its own apps: Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts and Weather.

Supported tasks include organizing files, grouping Safari tabs, scheduling messages, favoriting photos and creating Journal entries. Users can ask Siri AI directly to see what each app can do.

4. When it reaches customers

This is still a developer preview, not a customer launch. Apple says the first integrations will ship to customers in a few months, and App Store submissions for Siri AI experiences open in the spring. No exact dates were given.

For now, testing is limited to development-signed builds and internal TestFlight versions, not App Store releases.

5. Limits and exceptions worth knowing

The Siri AI beta requires an Apple Intelligence enabled device set to a supported language: English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese are coming.

Three limits matter. Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS while Apple works with regulators there. It is not available to users under 13. And features that rely on server-side models carry daily usage limits, with broader access to come at a fee.

What it means for you

Siri is shifting from an assistant that answers questions to one that runs tasks inside other people's apps. For readers in Malaysia, Malay support has not been announced, so the near term impact is mostly on the global app ecosystem.

  1. iPhone users: once integrations ship, you can ask Siri to handle tasks inside your favorite apps without opening them.
  2. Developers: start building with App Intents in the 27.3 betas now, since App Store submissions open in the spring and early finishers get the head start.
  3. Business owners: if your product has an iOS app, actions like order tracking or bookings become a new entry point for customers through Siri.
  4. EU users: don't expect this yet, as Apple is still negotiating a path forward with EU regulators.
