Want to sell a digital product? Here are 20 ideas for teachers, clerks, homemakers and office workers

Want to build a digital product but do not know what to sell? Here are 20 ideas based on the job and skills you already use every day, from ebooks to web apps.

Want to build a digital product but do not know what to sell? Start with the skills you already use every day.

If you are a teacher, you are used to preparing learning materials. If you work in an office, you may be strong with Excel or presentations. If you are a homemaker, you may have your own way of managing menus and family routines.

These skills can become an ebook, an Excel template, a Canva template or a web app. Here are examples of products you can build based on your job and experience.

If you are a teacher

1. Ebook of at-home learning activities Gather short activities parents can do with their children. For example, "20 Letter Recognition Activities Using Items at Home". Include the materials needed, the steps and examples.

2. Excel template for student marks Build a file to enter marks, calculate averages and track student progress. Provide ready-made formulas and instructions so other teachers can use it easily.

3. Canva template for classroom materials Create a set of timetables, student name labels, task charts, certificates and class rules posters. Buyers can change the names, colours and details for their own class.

4. PDF worksheet sets Create practice for one specific skill, such as addition within 20, reading syllables or recognising shapes. Include answers and arrange the exercises from easy to more challenging.

5. Interactive practice web app Build a simple app such as a times table quiz, a spelling drill or a word matching game. Start with one topic and basic features like answer checking and a score display.

If you are a clerk or work in administration

1. Beginner admin work guide ebook Explain how to organise folders, name files, record documents and follow up on tasks. Use made-up examples so readers can try it right away.

2. Excel template for invoices and payments Provide fields for invoice number, customer name, amount, due date and payment status. Add a summary of unpaid amounts to help small sellers check their books.

3. Canva template for business documents Design quotations, letterheads, order forms and service info sheets. Focus on one type of customer, for example freelancers or home service providers.

4. Meeting management kit Combine an agenda template, meeting minutes and an action log in Word or Google Docs format. Include fields for decisions, the person responsible and the due date.

5. Office asset booking web app Build a simple system to record bookings for meeting rooms, projectors or equipment. Users can view the schedule and check which slots are still open.

If you are a homemaker

1. School lunchbox menu ebook Plan lunchbox ideas by the week, complete with ingredients, preparation steps and what can be done the night before. Focus on recipes you have tried yourself.

2. Household budget Excel template Provide sections for income, bills, groceries and actual spending. Add a monthly summary so users can easily see where the money goes.

3. Canva template for kids' routines Create a morning routine chart, a chores schedule, a school bag checklist and a reward chart. Parents can change the activities to suit their child's age and needs.

4. PDF menu and pantry planner Combine a weekly menu plan, a list of what you still have and a shopping list. Make it easy to print and reuse every week.

5. Family chore rotation web app Build an app to divide tasks such as sweeping, taking out the rubbish and watering plants. Each family member can see their tasks and tick them off when done.

If you work in sales, marketing or a small business

1. Customer follow-up guide ebook Create a guide for different situations, such as after sending a quotation, after a first discussion or when a customer has not decided yet. Include sample messages you can adapt.

2. Excel template for costing and margin Build a file that helps users enter costs, set a selling price and calculate gross margin. Include sample calculations and explain the assumptions used.

3. Canva promo template by niche Pick one category such as a bakery, a homestay or a home cleaning service. Create a set of price posts, service intros, FAQs and seasonal promotions.

4. Content planning kit Combine a content calendar, a brief template and sample caption outlines. Organise them by purpose, such as introducing a product, answering customer questions and inviting bookings.

5. Quotation builder web app Build a tool that lets users enter customer details, select services and generate a PDF quotation. Start with the needs of one field so the features stay clear.

Which product should you start with?

Choose based on the skills you already have:

  • You enjoy writing and explaining: start with an ebook or a PDF guide.
  • You are used to formulas: try an Excel template.
  • You enjoy arranging visuals: create a Canva template.
  • You have your own practice materials: turn them into a worksheet or activity kit.
  • You enjoy building interactive systems: consider a web app, including time for testing and upkeep.

You do not need to build every format at once. Pick one product, for one type of user, with one clear use.

For example, instead of "an Excel template for business", narrow it down to "a booking and deposit record template for cake makers".

That makes it easier to decide what to build and to explain its value to a buyer.
